WiMAX (802.16-2004 & 16e) is the latest generation of communication standards based on “high speed” wireless technology. Current at its early stage, the industry revenue is estimated to exceed $3.5bn by 2008 . This is over and above the existing Wi-Fi market size with a combined market for Fixed Wireless, Wi-Fi and WiMAX of $12.4bn by 2010, the total Global Broadband Market to reach $145bn by 2010.

Current Wi-Fi architectures have shown how valuable Wi-Fi technology is in freeing workers to access information while moving about the enterprise. In line with the past two years the number of users seeking wireless connectivity will continue to surge as:

  • Shipments of Wi-Fi clients exceed 70 million units in 2007.

  • More than 90% mobile computing devices become Wi-Fi compatible in 2007.

  • More than 70 million WLAN-enabled cellular phones ship worldwide by 2007.

  • Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) growth explodes as businesses transition voice traffic to low-cost IP networks.

  • Shipments of enterprise-class access points reach 7.2 million devices in 2007.

Fueled by these trends, the market for enterprise class WLAN access equipment is expected to reach $1B in 2007. Along with the sheer rise in demand, several less quantifiable market dynamics are converging to increase the need for ‘next-generation’ wireless LAN.

nex-G was founded in 2004 as a “Broadband Wireless Internet Access” company to tap upon the latent potential of the industry. Asia is billed as the fastest growing region for wireless technologies in particular WiMAX, with India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Indo-China, Pakistan and the Middle-East as the high-value markets outside China and Korea. To capitalize on this growing market-focus nex-G sets out to be a global player but with a defined Asia value-proposition, to build for and culturally service these markets. nex-G is one of the lead companies in the ASEAN region spearheading the product development of WiMAX, Multi-Radio Mesh Wi-Fi and Next Generation Wi-Fi products and technology, which brings a unique local content positioning for the regional growth markets. With a growing list of customers in Asia, Europe and Australia, nex-G is actively engaging its channel marketing strategy to leverage visionary Next Generation Telcos in the Asia and Middle East regions to supply current Multi-Service Mesh Wi-Fi applications and later Mobile WiMAX infrastructure solutions. Foundational to its ecosystem, nex-G brings production control over the supply chain in the add-value advantage of integrated in-house manufacturing operations through common shareholder ownership in high-tech manufacturing facilities here in Singapore, China and Malaysia.

nex-G’s businesses are grouped into the following two categories:
